SUBMITTED PHONY APPLICATIONS TO THE PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM
Six Texas men were sentenced in mid-February for their involvement in a scheme to fraudulently procure some $20 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans which had been issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In their PPP applications, the men falsified the number of employees and payroll expenses; provided fake bank records and tax forms and funneled the funds to “fake employees.”
After pleading guilty, HA (31), AU (31), and AU (27), got three years and eight months, one year and six months, and one year and six months in prison, respectively; SA (55) was sentenced to two years; MA (55), and JAP (33) were sentenced to one year and nine months and one year and one day in prison, respectively.
That’s how they’ll pay their debt?
