DURING THE COURSE OF TWO TRIPS TO FIJI, FORMER PREACHER ENGAGED IN SEX CRIMES
A former preacher from Milton, Florida -- (JRM (43)) -- was sentenced in mid-September to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of “Illicit Sexual Conduct in Foreign Places.” Not only will the sentence be followed by a lifetime of supervised release, but the man will be required to register as a sex offender.
Apparently, during the course of two trips made back in 2013 and 2016 to the Republic of Fiji, the individual is said to have “sexually abused” a person under the age of eighteen “on multiple occasions.”
He was arrested in 2022, by agents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
The sentence was announced by Jason R. Coody, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, who noted in a written press release, “There is no greater charge than the protection of our children …. This sentence is yet another example of the unwavering commitment to the protection of our most vulnerable and should serve as a significant deterrent to those who would attempt to harm them. We will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute those who engage in such heinous conduct.”
As they say in Fiji, “Dui seva ga na bua ka tea.”
