SOLDIER SURREPTITIOUSLY SOLD SECRETS

SECRET AND TOP SECRET INFORMATION WERE SHARED WITH CHINESE GOVERNMENT

JDS (29), a former US Army Sergeant, was arrested in early October on an indictment which charged him with the felonies of “attempt to deliver national defense information and retention of national defense information.”

From 2015 to 2020, JDS had access to SECRET and TOP SECRET information, and after his separation from the military he allegedly reached out to the Chinese Consulate in Turkey, and the Chinese security services offering national defense information.

In March of 2020, he is said to have traveled to Hong Kong to provide the Chinese with the classified information, and to supply a device which would allow the Chinese to gain access to the military’s computer networks.

In a written statement, Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew G. Olsen, noted that “Individuals entrusted with national defense information have a continuing duty to protect that information beyond their government service and certainly beyond our borders …. The National Security Division is committed to identifying and holding accountable those who violate that duty.”

If convicted JDS faces up to a decade in prison on each count, and a $250,000 fine.

Is that soldier about to bite the bullet?

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
