FATHER USED KID AS A HUMAN SHIELD

FOUND GUILTY OF NEGLECT

After the Bronx County Family Court found a father neglected his kids, an appeal to the Appellate Division, First Department, followed.

Because the testimony at a fact-finding hearing established that the father subjected his kids to “actual or imminent danger of physical or emotional impairment” -- by exposing them to “domestic violence” and, when police officers attempted to arrest him, he used one of his children as a human shield (dangling the kid in the air, by the arm, for at about five minutes) -- the AD1 affirmed the underlying determination.

As the appellate court noted in its decision, “A single incident of domestic violence is sufficient to establish neglect.” (And it didn’t help his case that his apartment suffered from “unsanitary conditions,” and that it lacked electricity and food.)

Surely, there’s no neglecting that.
