THEY DECEIVED CONSUMERS ABOUT SOBRENIX

FTC GETS $650,000 AND ORDER PREVENTING FUTURE MISREPRESENTATIONS

Rejuvica, the marketers of a “liquid tincture” called Sobrenix, is said to have made “unsubstantiated and false claims” about the product and used paid endorsers to “deceive consumers” about its effectiveness.

In response to an FTC complaint, the company agreed to pay $650,000 (which will be refunded to impacted consumers) and entered into a proposed order that would permanently ban them from engaging in deceptive practices in the future.

Apparently, there was no evidence to support the company’s claims that the product reduced alcohol cravings and consumption, and the “experts” used to promote the product “never disclosed … they were paid by Rejuvica, and Rejuvica then highlighted these appearances in their marketing materials as ‘news’ coverage, failing to disclose they were actually paid advertisements.”

In a written press release, Samuel Levine, Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, noted, “We will not tire in our pursuit of those who prey on individuals struggling with alcohol or other substance use disorders …. This case evidences the breadth of the FTC’s authority to pursue such wrongdoing under both the FTC Act and OARFPA.”

I bet they didn’t toast to that ….
