After finding him guilty of plagiarism, Farmingdale State College expelled Omoike Idahosa from its Nursing Program. And when the Nassau County Supreme Court intervened and found that penalty to be too extreme, the College appealed.
Because the student was aware of the potential consequences of his conduct, repeatedly denied copying the paper, and failed to give a credible explanation for his work product's similarity with that of a fellow student's, the Appellate Division, Second Department, didn't find expulsion to be a disproportionate or "shocking" penalty.
You try nursing that.
