Today, the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled against U.S. efforts to reduce teen smoking.
Alert your community to the WTO's attack on our consumer rights -- sign the Consumer Rights Pledge.
The WTO has now ordered the U.S. to water down or get rid of a key plank of its landmark Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009, one of the few policy achievements of the Obama administration's first term. The act banned sale of candy and other sweet-flavored cigarettes used to attract children to smoking.
Take the Consumer Rights Pledge today.
Time and again, the WTO favors feeding corporate greed, imposing barriers to the public's will here and in other countries.
That's why it's up to all of us to take the pledge and shine a spotlight on the WTO's outrageous rulings.
Only by taking action can we make sure that the Obama administration and Congress do not bow to the WTO orders to kill our laws. And, by getting our friends and family signed up, we can make sure the administration does not extend these anti-consumer rules in future trade deals, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership "free trade" agreement.
Take the pledge and get your friends and family signed up against the WTO's attack on our consumer rights.
Sincerely,
Beatriz and Brooke
