High Risk Construction Study: Excavations - Findings & Recommendations
In March of 2008, the Department of Buildings hired engineering experts from across the country to study the Department's permitting and inspection procedures and review industry practices to determine what changes can be made to improve safety and reduce the risk of injury to workers and the public. This free seminar will examine the recent findings and recommendations made during the Department's High Risk Construction Oversight study with regard to excavation work in New York City. The session will include a discussion of issues presented by the different boroughs and the technical difficulties of excavating certain lot layouts. The presentation will also review best practices and how to properly maintain the health, welfare, and safety of workers and the public.
