Citizens of Earth (and anyone still pretending the first wave was “just a weird movie”): the disturbance that began with 5000 Space Aliens—that award-winning, minimalist animated invasion which baffled scientists, delighted festival crowds, and mildly annoyed several government agencies—is back. Bigger. Drier. Still deeply unimpressed with our infrastructure.
On August 10, 2026, 5002 Space Aliens officially touches down on Apple, Amazon, and Google/YouTube. The aliens demanded a wider release window. We complied. It felt safer.

Quick Autopsy of the Original Chaos
Scott Bateman’s 5000 Space Aliens was an underground fever dream: Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds if Welles had been stuck with a glitchy laptop, a deadpan narrator, and humor so arid it could dehydrate a cactus. Festival hardware included Best Picture at the Medusa Underground Film Festival, multiple international official selections, and a #7 ranking on 366 Weird Movies’ Top 10 Weird Movies of 2023. Audiences asked for more aliens, more absurdity, more Bateman. The universe (or the aliens’ lobbyists) answered.
The Sequel: By Popular Demand (and Possible Cosmic Pressure)
5002 Space Aliens expands the threat level and the number of extraterrestrials who appear to be taking notes on Earth’s questionable life choices. Same signature Bateman DNA—hand-drawn oddities, bone-dry narration, a tone that suggests the apocalypse might politely wait until after coffee. If the first film was the warning, this is the follow-up inspection. The aliens have notes. And they’re not thrilled.
