Blueroot Health has issued a recall for approximately 4,700 bottles of Bariatric Fusion Iron Multivitamins due to a serious safety violation that could lead to child poisoning. The affected products contain iron, which under federal law must be packaged in child-resistant containers. However, the recalled bottles fail to meet this requirement, posing a risk of serious injury or death if ingested by young children.
The recall includes two types of supplements: Bariatric Fusion High ADEK multivitamin capsules (available in 90- and 270-count bottles) and One Per Day bariatric multivitamin capsules (90-count bottles), each containing 45mg of iron. The bottles are white and orange, and the affected units can be identified by their smooth cap tops, which lack the federally mandated “push down & turn” safety feature. Lot numbers 0066J4, 0065J4, 0453B5, and 0370B5 are printed on the bottom of the bottles.
Although no injuries have been reported, the risk is significant. Iron poisoning in children can be fatal, and the absence of child-resistant packaging violates the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. Consumers are urged to immediately store the bottles out of reach of children and contact Blueroot Health to receive a free child-resistant replacement cap.
The recalled supplements were sold online through Amazon.com, bariatricfusion.com, and other websites between January and June 2025, with prices ranging from $23 to $57. The products were manufactured by VitaQuest International in New Jersey and distributed by Blueroot Health, based in Connecticut.
For more information or to request a replacement cap, consumers can contact Blueroot Health toll-free at 866-259-0602 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET), email support@bariatricfusion.com, or visit bariatricfusion.com/product-safety.
Now that's a fusion of vitamins and truly terrible design!
