Just two days before the polls open, Shake It Off with Mert & Lucas, LIVE! returns with its most incendiary episode yet. Their “Election Eve Eve Special” slices through the spin with two hours of unfiltered political satire, sharp analysis, and guests who know how to stir the pot.

Hour 1: “The Mamdani Metamorphosis” + Joseph Borelli Unleashed
First up: the curious case of Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the democratic socialist mayoral nominee whose ideological pivot has left progressives puzzled and critics pouncing. Is Mamdani a master strategist or a political shape-shifter? Mert and Lucas dissect his campaign’s evolution, controversial endorsements, and identity politics with their trademark precision and bite.

Then, Joseph Borelli, former NYC Councilmember and conservative firebrand, joins the fray with a blistering counterpoint. Borelli represented Staten Island’s South Shore in the City Council from 2015 to 2025 and previously served in the New York State Assembly. As the Council’s Republican Minority Leader and Chair of the Committee on Fire and Emergency Management, he oversaw agencies with multi-billion-dollar budgets and was known for his sharp critiques of progressive policies and his unapologetic defense of conservative values. As Managing Director at Chartwell Strategy Group, he brings a seasoned political perspective to advising clients on the shifting dynamics of policy and media engagement.

Hour 2: “Santos Set Free” + Tom Allon on NYC’s Leftward Lurch
Hour two kicks off with the jaw-dropping presidential commutation of George Santos, whose scandal-plagued congressional career ended in disgrace — until now. Mert and Lucas unpack the legal chaos, media frenzy, and political implications of Santos’s early release.

To close, Tom Allon, publisher of City & State, joins the show to offer a seasoned take on New York’s media landscape and the ideological fault lines driving the city toward a socialist mayor. A lifelong New Yorker and former educator, Allon is a media entrepreneur who has built and led multiple publishing ventures, including Manhattan Media and City & State NY. He was briefly a candidate for mayor in 2013 and remains a prominent columnist whose work appears in the New York Daily News, New York Post, and HuffPost.
