STIHL Recalls BR 800 Backpack Units After Parts Go Flying

STIHL has issued a recall for approximately 47,800 BR 800 backpack blowers after discovering that the internal fan wheel can fracture during operation, potentially sending sharp fragments outward. That’s not the kind of yardwork surprise anyone wants.

The recall affects the BR 800 X Magnum and BR 800 C-E Magnum models, sold between May and September 2025. These units are gray and orange, with “STIHL,” “BR 800,” and either “X” or “C-E” printed on the back. Serial numbers in the range 546515117 to 547916107 are included.

Owners are urged to stop using the equipment immediately and take it to an authorized STIHL dealer for a free inspection and fan wheel replacement. No injuries have been reported, but STIHL isn’t waiting for things to take a turn.

The BR 800 X Magnum retailed for about $600, and the C-E Magnum for around $700. Both were sold through independent STIHL dealers nationwide.

For more information, contact STIHL Inc. at 800-233-4729 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET) or visit www.stihlusa.com/safety/recalls/br800.
