509 ENDS THE RIDE FOR THESE HELMETS

509 and Polaris have issued a recall of approximately 201,200 helmets in the United States and 26,800 in Canada due to a defect that may prevent proper protection during crashes, posing a risk of head injury. The recall was announced on July 3, 2025, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada.

The affected helmets include 509 Tactical 3.0 (Youth, Mountain, and Trail), 509 for Polaris Tactical 3.0 (Youth and Mountain), 509 Tactical 2.0 (Small/Medium), 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 (Small/Medium), and various models equipped with Fidlock chinstrap technology. These include Altitude 2.0, Delta R3L, Delta R4, Delta V, Mach III, Mach IV, and Mach V helmets manufactured from 2020 to 2025.

The helmets were sold in sizes ranging from youth small to adult 4XL, in a wide array of colors and styles. They were available online at ride509.com and polaris.com, as well as through authorized dealers nationwide, from January 2020 through May 2025. Retail prices ranged from $140 to $900. All units were manufactured in China and imported by Teton Outfitters LLC, doing business as 509, a Polaris subsidiary based in Rigby, Idaho.

The recall was prompted by one reported incident in which a helmet detached during a crash, resulting in a concussion. Helmets may fail to meet certification standards or have improperly routed chinstrap webbing, especially those with Fidlock magnetic buckles.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets. Those with Tactical 3.0 or Tactical 2.0 models manufactured in 2023 can contact 509 or Polaris for a refund, replacement, or store credit. Helmets with Fidlock straps will be repaired following inspection and webbing adjustment. Proof of purchase is not required. All recalled helmets must be discarded according to instructions provided by the manufacturer.
