STEP UP TO DANGER

Cosco 2-Step Kitchen Stepper Recall

Dorel Home Furnishings Inc., doing business as Cosco Home and Office Products, has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 302,000 Cosco 2-Step Kitchen Steppers sold in the United States, along with an additional 11,000 units sold in Canada. The recall, announced on July 31, 2025, addresses a serious safety issue involving the product’s safety bar.

The affected kitchen steppers are folding stepstools with two steps and a safety bar that attaches to the back. Multiple models are included in the recall, sold in white/gray, green, navy, and blue finishes. The Cosco logo is molded onto the handle, and model information can be found on a label affixed to one of the arms.

The safety bar on these units can detach or break during use, posing a significant fall and injury hazard. Cosco has received 34 reports of the safety bar failing, including two incidents that resulted in head injuries.

Consumers are advised to stop using the safety bar immediately and store the stepper away from children until it is repaired. Dorel is offering a free repair kit that includes a sliding locking mechanism to secure the safety bar, installation instructions, and an additional warning label. The kit will be shipped at no cost.

The recalled products were sold at major retailers including Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and BJ’s Wholesale Club, as well as online at Amazon.com, Wayfair.com, and Overstock.com, between February 2021 and July 2025. Prices ranged from $56 to $70.

For more information or to request a repair kit, consumers can contact Dorel toll-free at 888-628-3778 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, email recall@coscoproducts.com, or visit www.coscoproducts.com and click on “SAFETY NOTICES” at the top of the page.
