DON’T GET MAD, JUST BUY THE BOOK!
Back in 2020, as the world was in the thick of the COVID pandemic, I came across a crowdfunding campaign for a project called CLAPTRAP — a full-color, hardcover book being hawked by Desmond Devlin and Tom Richmond, two guys who were an integral part of the old MAD Magazine.

MAD was an extremely popular American humor magazine that was first published back in 1952, and was famous for its satiric look at all aspects of our world. Among other things, it lobbed stinging jabs at entertainment celebrities, political leaders, and other public figures.

Artist Tom Richmond joined MAD back in 2000, and eventually became its signature caricaturist. He’s the winner of the National Cartoonists Society’s prestigious 2011 Reuben Award for the year’s outstanding cartoonist. While writer Desmond Devlin wrote his first MAD article in 1984, when he was just a teenager, and became its most prolific writer during his 36-year tenure.
