Based out of Long Beach Island, New Jersey, the LIGHTHOUSE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL describes itself as a “unique beach-centric experience like no other.” In fact, MovieMaker magazine has repeatedly described it as one of “The 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.”▫️
Screening on June 9, 2024, as part of the festival’s 16th edition (scheduled from June 5-9), you’ll find DRAGONFLY — an animated short written and directed by Julia Morizawa.

Inspired by the lives of Julia’s maternal grandparents, and the stories her mom shared about growing up on the family farm in Japan, this unique work examines the devastating impact of the Tokyo Firebombing of March 9-10, 1945, and addresses “the generational trauma of war, the power of family, and finding the strength to rise from the ashes.”
