We’re pleased to announce that AFTER LAUGHTER will be screening at the 11th Annual Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (GCUFF), which will be offering a mix of virtual and in-person events from September 15-22, 2022.▫️
Established in 2012, GCUFF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation “dedicated to celebration, preservation, promotion and advancement of African American arts, culture and cinema.”

Its website also notes, GCUFF was “started as a grassroots organization that came together to create a platform and venue to highlight films, filmmakers, actors and other industry executives of color …. [They] work to showcase remarkable independent cinema, celebrate underrepresented voices, support professionals from minority communities, and bring international artists in contact with audiences.”

In this story — co-written and co-directed by Adrian Burks [ @adrian_burks] and Theodore Wright IV [ @_twiv], (and made in association with yours truly) — we witness the struggles of two young men as they deal not only with a dysfunctional family dynamic, but the injustices that were pervasive throughout the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Will they persevere, or end up victims of the harsh reality in which they live?
