When adoptees seek out their birth parents, it’s often called a “search for self.” For some, it’s a desire to secure family medical history. Others hope to fill gaps in their identity and find out why they were relinquished. Many also want to know with whom they share a physical resemblance and to better understand their own interests, temperaments, and/or personality traits.

In DAUGHTER, we accompany our protagonist, Aimee, on that journey. The film touches upon such universal themes as “identity,” “belonging,” and “motherhood,” and explores the “layered relationships between mothers and daughters.”
