A Palace Fit for a King and/or Queen
An ultra-lavish mansion in San Francisco, CA, has just hit the market, and its gearing up to be the Bay Area’s priciest residential sale, ever.
Boasting over three acres of property (in one of the most exclusive real-estate markets in the world), this Silicon Valley compound pulls out all the stops and was built in true Italian-villa style.
As you approach the entrance, you’ll encounter small ponds with fire and water fountain features, complimenting the stone archways and directing you to the front door. The 14,000 sq. ft. main house is a marvel of imported wood and marble, with French Oak lining the floors of the living areas (in a herringbone pattern), with white marble inlaid at multiple intervals. Add to that, the enormous crystal chandeliers and marble fireplaces scattered throughout the main rooms, together with the barrel-vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams that add an extra layer of depth to the open-floor plan.
The chef’s kitchen offers state-of-the-art Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, as well as two islands with waterfall edges all around, along with custom-built cabinetry, designed with steel and glass. If you find yourself stuck inside on a rainy day, the home comes with a private theatre with Atmos Dolby surround sound, several indoor lounges with wet bars and a wine cellar, and a golf-simulator room for perfecting your fairway drives.
Enter the master suite and be greeted by sheer opulence – for the bedroom comes with an exposed standing marble tub on a pedestal surrounded by marble columns, a two-sided Davinci fireplace, heated limestone floors, a concealed refrigerator, outside terraces, and custom walk-in closets that would make Coco Chanel writhe in jealousy.
Outside, you’ll find a 65-foot pool with hot tub and spa, a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen with dining and fire pit entertainment area, as well as beautifully-manicured grounds, which come with fountains, an olive and wine vineyard, and a prized rose garden. On the grounds you’ll also find a separate executive office and conference center (for optimal work-from-home conditions); a fitness center with massage and hair salon; and a two-bedroom guesthouse. Past the guest house you’ll secure access to a private hiking trail.
And as far as security is concerned, the system monitoring the home is top-of-the-line, with remote operating devices controlling everything from the high-tech steel gates surrounding the property, to the internal systems that regulate temperature, mood lighting, and keeping a constant look-out for uninvited intruders.
The compound sits in the small town of Woodside, and while only 5,000 people live there, the average median home price is $5 million dollars. (The surrounding San Fran Bay area’s median price is about $1.3 million.)
Notable neighbors include tech titans and other captains of industry -- such as Larry Ellison, founder of the Oracle Corporation and the 10th richest man in the world, who happens to live on a 23-acre estate just down the road. A rural, equestrian community, Woodside is known for its gorgeous nature preserves, as well as a couple of Michelin-star restaurants where some billion-dollar venture capital deals have allegedly been inked.
Scott Dancer of Compass currently holds the listing to this Silicon Valley gem, and it comes with a price tag of $110 MM – which stands to eviscerate the prior record held by a $43.5 MM residential acquisition in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco, last year.
