“Children of the Pines,” a new, feature-length “surrealist horror film,” written and directed by 20-year-old Joshua Morgan, is out to break the genre’s mold with a twisted look at self-worth, relationships, and family bonds.

During a school break, our protagonist returns home to discover some unexpected changes, including some bizarre behaviors by her parents and ex-boyfriend. Will she escape unscathed?
