LEO WANTS TO SELL HIS HOME

The Wolf of Wall Street puts LAX property on the market.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Los Feliz house -- the nearly century-old “Red Oak Manor" -- is perched on the edge of one of the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, and can be yours for a modest $5.5 million. The home caught the Oscar-winner’s eye back in 2018. And no wonder. The outspoken environmentalist was undoubtedly drawn to the property’s tranquility, as it is filled with plush trees in a forest-like setting.

The home measures over 4,600 square feet and comes equipped with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a formal dining room, a media room, and a home gym. The guest suite with attached steam room and bathroom is only accessible by way of a secret entrance.

Originally built in 1926, the home certainly has character. But was the 95-year-old house suitable for one of the most famous actors in Hollywood? Well, the prior owner, the famed musician Moby, did most of the heavy lifting by completely renovating the property – which included the installation of a brand new kitchen with marble countertops, restored hardwood floors, and a state-of-the-art security system.

Despite the renovation, the 1920’s charm has not been lost. French doors, built-in wooden bookshelves in the study, and, three different ornate detailed fireplaces showcase the home’s old-world allure. The two master bedrooms are said to be “dramatic,” and feature walk-in closets, sky-lit marble bathtubs, and a lofted yoga area to become ‘one with the earth’ in the early morning. The high vaulted ceilings and boundless windows draw in light from almost every direction.

A pool and spa area are right outside to compliment the outdoor living area -- an entertainer’s dream oasis. The gated driveway is tucked away behind privacy hedges and provides good cover from adoring fans and the winding streets of Los Feliz Oaks. Further, the property is adjacent to Griffith Park – one of the largest urban parks in North America.

Said to have been purchased for his father, DiCaprio shelled out a whopping $4.9 million for this retreat. And, interestingly, this isn’t his only holding in the area. He purchased another home in the same neighborhood from Jesse Tyler Ferguson earlier this year. Plus, DiCaprio’s main residence, (a staggering 1.8-acre estate off the coast of Malibu) ran him a bit more – costing the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star a mere $23 million back in 2016.

DiCaprio has had an impressively diverse acting career, starring in countless blockbuster movies, like Titanic, The Departed, Catch Me if You Can, and The Great Gatsby, to name just a few, and he’s also set to star in Killers of the Flower Moon, next year, directed by Martin Scorsese. So, it's not immediately clear what is motivating the sale.

Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland holds the listing for the home.
