POACHED PRAWN W/ AVOCADO SALAD @ DISNEY SHANGHAI

If you’re looking to have a meal with your favorite Disney characters, stop into the “Royal Banquet Hall,” inside the Enchanted Storybook Castle at Shanghai Disneyland Park (China).

For 388 CNY, or about $55 (U.S.) per person, you can partake of a three course meal, supposedly “fit for princes and princesses.”

But keep your expectations low. For no true “royalty” would deign to eat this refuse. It was utter rubbish. (Presentation aside, it ultimately consisted of all low-end, cafeteria-style offerings.)

Our next appetizer, for example, was the “Poached Prawn with Avocado Salad.”

Now when someone mentions this kind of “salad,” I usually think of diced avocados, onion, bell pepper, tomato, cilantro and lime juice (tossed and seasoned). But this was more of a “guacamole” mixed with unidentified fruit pieces.

Because the sweetened pecans and shrimp were mushy, and the mashed avocado was exceedingly sweet (and had a watery taste), even the Kingdom’s “hoi polloi” would rather go on a hunger strike than consume this “F” scoring feculence.
