After trying several pasta dishes, we figured out why “Elisabetta’s Ristorante” has a website that is conspicuously silent about the people running the place. (No one wants to take credit for this eatery’s shortcomings?)
After some digging, we found out that this joint is owned by a West Palm Beach corporation known as the “Big Time Restaurant Group” — which happens to operate “City Oyster & Sushi Bar,” “Big City Tavern, City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill,” “Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar,” “Grease Burger Bar,” and “Louie Bossi’s Ristorante, Bar and Pizzeria” — and that this particular location is really just another “Louie Bossi,” in disguise.
Elisabetta’s not only shares “Bossi’s” environment and Italianate feel, but (according to our waiter) offers a lot of the same menu items. And, to add injury to insult, we weren’t blown away by any of the dishes we ordered.
That losing streak held true for our final course, when we made the mistake of ending with “DARIO’S ORANGE OLIVE OIL CAKE” — pine nuts and rosemary ($7).
We were hoping for something “light” and “fluffy,” with the aroma and all the dark flavor that oranges have to offer. (That ain’t what we got.)
Because this had an exceedingly dense, dry, crumb, and lacked any zest (or zing), this discreditable dessert rated an “F.”
