SEAFOOD TOAST

According to some local media reports, the “hottest” new restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale area is DUNE — located at the base of the Auberge Beach Residences & Spa (over on North Ocean Blvd).

While the space is certainly beautiful, and the views of the beach and Atlantic ocean (from the patio area) are quite stunning, the food didn’t live up to the hype.

We started our meal with the “Seafood Toast” which comes with your choice of fish, ($16-22), together with some avocado, heirloom tomatoes and rocket arugula.

While our salmon ($16) was quite tasty, the toast on which it rested was rock hard; the consistency of stale bread. (It was so difficult to cut or slice with a table knife, that when our waitress saw us struggling, she brought over steak knives. (Slide photos until you reach the video.)

Because we vehemently disliked the bread, and thought the $16 ask was a bit pricey for what we got, this dish scored a lowly “C.”
