MC KITCHEN'S BLACK MISSION FIG PIZZETTA

Back in 2013, one of the first restaurants to open in the newly revitalized Miami Design District was “MC Kitchen,” which prides itself on offering its customers “modern Italian cuisine.”

Because we’re suckers for anything pizza-like, we ordered the “Black Mission Fig Pizzetta” — which is made with cippolini marmalade, parma prosciutto, fontina cheese, arugula, saba ($19).

Out of respect to the non-pork eaters, we passed on the prosciutto, but that didn’t diminish our enjoyment of, or otherwise detract from, the dish.

While we liked how the contrasting cheese and marmalade flavors worked well together, we found the crust a bit doughy and thought that the dish needed to be served a whole lot warmer.

Since $19 was a bit much for some cold bread, greens, cheese and a fruit preserve, this dish scored a relatively low “C+”
