While we were in Coconut Grove (Miami) we decided to stop into Farinelli 1937 — at 3199 Commodore Plaza — for some “authentic Italian pizza.”
Unfortunately, their “Burrata” pie — pomodoro sauce, cold burrata, basil, extra virgin olive oil ($15.50) — just didn’t work for us.
The crust repeatedly went limp under the weight of all that dairy; not only causing a considerable mess but making the slices difficult to manually maneuver. (I HATE having to use a fork when eating pizza.)
We also would have preferred the burrata to have been at room temperature. We didn’t enjoy that unpleasant feeling of cold cheese hitting the roof of our mouths as we took each bite.
While people rave about this place, and its pies, we found it below average, and ultimately rated it a “C+”
