Donald Trump's request that governors send National Guard troops to
the border will do nothing but pander to his racist, immigrant-hating
base to distract them from other issues. Daily Kos has already generated
60,000+ letters opposing it, and
we are seeing results.
Nevada's Republican governor
has joined Oregon's Democratic governor in refusing to send troops to the border.
Texas & Arizona have sent troops, but the
numbers are smaller than requested. New Mexico's Republican governor says she supports
it, but has yet to send troops. But California Governor Jerry Brown has
been silent on the question.
Now is the time to step up the request. Sign and send the petition to New
York's governor: Reject Trump's militarization of the border.
