It's a simple phrase. But it's the answer to so many challenges we face.
How do you protect Planned Parenthood and the millions of patients who rely on them? Elect women.
How do you get laws that help families thrive, not just survive? Elect women.
How do you stop the disastrous agenda of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and their Tea Party crew? Elect. Women.
Electing women is what EMILY's List does best — they helped me do it when I ran for governor of Michigan, becoming the first woman to serve in that office. And, over the last 32 years, they've helped elect a total of more than 900 women leaders.
But the work is never done, and it's more important than ever.
So let's help raise the $250,000 needed by the end of September to keep electing women — pro-choice Democratic women, to be precise.
Women make up nearly two-thirds of minimum wage earners. In households with kids, 40 percent of women are the primary or sole breadwinner.
And yet, women make up less than 20 percent of Congress and a mere quarter of state legislators.
We know outcomes are different when women are at the table. There's more cooperation, and more AND BETTER legislation gets passed.
This is why I will always answer when EMILY's List calls: Because I believe we need more women to run, and we must help more women win. And EMILY's List is better at it than anyone else.
