I'm calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign. As the former Attorney General of Florida, it's clear to me that he can no longer serve as our nation's chief legal official.
AG Sessions attempting to recuse himself from an investigation led by the department he currently runs is simply not enough. He lied to Congress about his meetings with senior Russian officials while under oath during his confirmation hearing. That's not just inexcusable -- it's perjury.

I'm beyond troubled that the Trump campaign had knowledge of a foreign government interfering with our election process, and there are many questions that the American people deserve answers to regarding those interactions. It's on Congress to get to the bottom of this and investigate these charges to the fullest.
That begins with the removal of Jeff Sessions as our nation's Attorney General.
I hope that my colleagues across the aisle will be willing to join me in calling for the resignation of Jeff Sessions and an investigation into connections between the Trump campaign and the Russian government -- this should not be a partisan issue.
Please join me in encouraging that Congress work together in order to get to the bottom of this. This is a time to stand up for transparency and openness in our government, and in our election process.
