Great news, Lucas. This year, thanks to the huge outpouring of support
from readers like you, the Daily Kos Elections team was able to
double its full-time staff!
But, since we're numbers geeks, we have to be honest about both the
numerator and denominator: We went from two full-timers to four. Given
how insanely busy the Trump era has been for activism-minded election
analysts such as ourselves, the technical term for the size of our staff
is "tiny."
Now, we have an amazing team of freelancers and volunteers who make essential
contributions to our best-of-breed elections coverage. But the fact is,
we are stretched to the max.
Can you chip in $5 right now to expand Daily Kos Elections?
Here are just some of the things we've been up to:
- Thanks to Jeff Singer, we were the first outfit to publish the results of last year's presidential election for all 435 congressional districts—crucial information for understanding which seats will be competitive next year.
- We were also the first national organization to identify the special election in Georgia's historically Republican 6th Congressional District as a competitive opportunity for Democrats. Our endorsement of Jon Ossoff has now brought him over $1.6 million in small donations, putting a victory in this month's runoff within reach.
- One of our two new hires, Stephen Wolf, launched a new weekly newsletter called the Voting Rights Roundup that covers every key development related to voting: voter suppression, voter ID, redistricting, felony disenfranchisement, voter registration, and more. It's critical reading.
- Our newest team member, Carolyn Fiddler, will expand our state legislative endorsement program so that we can help make sure Democrats have a seat at the table for the next round of redistricting, which is just two elections away.
- And our efforts don't stop at our nation's borders: Each month, we bring you the International Elections Digest, which has been carefully chronicling the rise—and, as some hopeful recent signs suggest, decline—of the extremist right in democracies around the world. It's vital to understanding what's going on the U.S.
That's just a small sample of what we've been doing, but if we
could expand our staff, we could do even more: crunch more vital data,
uncover more competitive races, endorse more fantastic candidates.
Daily Kos Elections can be at the vanguard of the nerd resistance that
helps terrify Republicans and puts Democrats back in power. But we need
your help so that we can keep growing—and keep kicking GOP butt,
right in the numbers.

Thank you for everything,
