Lucas: First, congressional Republicans voted to strip you of any semblance
of internet privacy. And now internet freedom is under attack as the FCC
plans to put an end to “net neutrality.”
Net neutrality may seem a bit too wonky or complicated to care about for
some – but if you use the web to binge-watch TV, tweet or just surf
different sites, the end of net neutrality would have a very real impact
on your day-to-day life.
Net neutrality means that you control your own internet experience.
You are in charge of what websites you can access or what apps you can buy.
That freedom is one of the big reasons that the internet became the amazing
and transformative innovation we experience today.
That’s why I’m so alarmed that the Trump-appointed chairman
of the FCC wants to get rid of the Obama-era net neutrality protections.
And if he gets his way, the internet we know today could be replaced with
one that has fast lanes and slow lanes to certain websites or restrictions
on which apps you can get.
This is so terribly wrong.
If you agree that the internet should remain free and open, please add
your name to tell the FCC to stand with consumers and protect net neutrality!
Lucas, we’ve stopped threats to net neutrality before – largely
thanks to an outpouring of outrage from internet users like you and me.
And I know we can do it again. But I need you to make your voice heard
before it’s too late.
Add your name right now to tell the FCC to keep the internet open and free!
Thank you,
Carolyn
