Lucas, are you angry at the right-wing extremists and corporate robber
barons who Donald Trump wants to appoint to high-level Cabinet positions?
There is something you can do.
Sign and send the petition: Email your Democratic senator(s) from New York
and demand they slow down and delay every single appointment. Every single one.
Democrats may be in the minority in the U.S. Senate, but there are still
many things we can do to delay these confirmations.
Requesting a roll call vote on every single nomination, for example, only
takes a minimum of eleven U.S. Senators. Roll call votes take time, and
get every senator on record.
Better yet, even a single U.S. senator can deny unanimous consent on a
nominee on any judicial nomination or any of the 1,200+ executive branch
appointments that require Senate approval.
Denying unanimous consent on even one of these nominations burns up 30
hours of Senate floor time, which would throw a huge wrench in Republican
plans if it is used repeatedly. Eventually, Republicans could be forced
to leave some positions empty, or even drop some of of their legislative
plans due to lack of time.
Write and send a custom letter: Tell your Democratic senator(s) you want
them to do whatever they can to slow down Trump and Republicans.
Over 35,000 Daily Kos members contacted their Democratic senator(s) yesterday,
but we are not asking you to just sign a form letter. Please take about
five minutes of your time to send them a personalized message.
Personalized messages are far more effective and persuasive—as we
have seen in many of our successful campaigns in the past. What does Trump's
arrogance mean to you, and how will these awful appointments to all levels
of the federal government affect your lives in the next four years?
Click here to demand that your Democratic senator(s) stand up against the
hateful, corrupt and extremist administration. Tell them to deny unanimous
consent on all nominations, and push for a roll call vote on each and
every nomination.
Keep fighting,
Paul Hogarth, Daily Kos
