There's a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song from my childhood that says "teach your children well."
I think that's an important lesson. Preparing our young people for careers, college, and life is one of our greatest responsibilities.
Sadly, not all young people in our community are getting a quality education. Last year, the Tampa Bay Times highlighted several Pinellas County schools that are failing our students — particularly African-American children, 95% of whom have been failing math and reading.
Fortunately, there are good people working to change this. One of those people is Kali, a teacher at one of the failing schools. She's doing her best to make sure her students get a good education. Watch what she would tell Congress:
Our teachers, parents, and students are working hard — but they need our help.
Meanwhile, my likely Republican opponent voted in Congress
against early childhood education funding,
against high school dropout prevention, and
against ensuring students with disabilities get the standard of education they deserve.
We can do better than that. If you agree we need leadership in Congress
that votes for our students, parents, and teachers — not against
them —
donate $25, $50, or $100 today and join our team.
Let's teach all our children well.
Thanks,
Charlie
