In 1894, Labor Day became a federal holiday — a celebration of the
working men and women who drove America's economy to become the world's greatest.
In the years since the Great Recession —
when our economy had lost nearly 9 million jobs — we've seen 77 straight months of job growth, and more than
15 million new jobs added.
Our economic recovery hasn't been perfect, though. Wages have been
stagnant, with too many low-paying jobs created, especially here in Florida.
President Obama's stimulus plan helped, and I was proud to work with
him to save 20,000 jobs through that investment.
To meet the challenges of the 21st century economy, we need to invest
in workers. We need to raise the minimum wage, create new job training
programs, make college and career training affordable, and build a new
generation of American infrastructure.
And unlike my Republican opponent, I'll deny tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas, I'll
take a stand on trade deals that don't benefit American workers, and
I'll promote higher science and math standards in our schools.
If you agree it's time to invest in American workers,
donate $25, $50, or $100 to send a Pinellas champion to Congress who'll
fight for just that — instead of selling out to big corporate interests.
Thanks,
Charlie
