Not answers to our families’ most pressing questions, but rehearsed one-liners and sound bites. You deserve a serious discussion on the issues that matter most. Instead, you’ll get the same old political pageantry.
But we can demand more. There’s still time to tell the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) what we want: A debate worth watching.
Sign the petition from Forward Together and Daily Kos: CPD should ask candidates about the issues that matter most to our families. This is our election, and we demand real change.
The next president will set a course for our country that stretches well-beyond the next four years. These debates are supposed to be our chance to learn where candidates land on the issues that matter most. Instead, they’re party line echo chambers—we learn nothing, and everybody loses.
American families have so much at stake. What, if anything, would candidates do to ensure working families can pay for basic needs? How will they address the ongoing discrimination against LGBTQ people? How can we take time off to care for our sick children without losing our jobs?
On September 26th, our presidential candidates will look into the cameras and try to win our vote. Let’s make them earn it.
Add your name: CPD, ask the candidates how they’ll keep our country’s most vulnerable families safe. These are the answers we need most.
In solidarity,
Forward Together
