
SHRI SHIVA Foods Inc. Recalls "MTR Sambar Powder" Because Of Possible Health Risk
SHRI SHIVA Foods Inc. is recalling MTR Sambar Powder, Net Quantity: 200
g (LOT NO# 15J27C, MFD.27.10.15) because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, with
Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young
children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Healthy persons infected with
Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea,vomiting
and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with
Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more
severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms),
endocarditis and arthritis.
The product was sold between January 2016 to October 2016 thru one NY and one OH via wholesaler.
Product is packed in 200g plastic pouches under MTR Brand stamped with MFD.27.10.15 on the back. No illnesses have been reported to date.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration discovered the potential contamination through previous product sampling.
