LET'S GET TO WORK!

Lucas,

This year’s elections laid bare that voters are overwhelmingly fed up with “business as usual” in Albany and Washington, and are desperate for real change. But, the same old players just got re-elected in our rural area, and at the federal level there’s a cabinet now being filled by Washington insiders and special interests.

It looks like we may not get anywhere near the change we need, and we need to stand together.

Whether you voted to “drain the swamp,” “shatter the glass ceiling,” or “Bern down a rigged system,” we still have a lot of work to do to take back our state and nation from a political class that funnels away our hard-earned money to powerful special interests and lobbyists. After all the promises of election season, we must hold politicians’ feet to the fire and fight for real ethics reform and against a rigged tax structure. I, for one, won’t stop demanding support for our family farms, investment in good local jobs, and funding for our schools and infrastructure.

This election may not have turned out as we wanted, but that doesn’t mean that the problems we face go away, so neither should we. I’m inspired to keep fighting for the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes, and I’m proud to let you know that we’ll have a major announcement in the New Year on our plans for the coming years. If we’re going to win these fights, we need to stand strong and we need to stand together. As we gather to protect those things we hold dear and fight back against extremism, I’m asking you to be an early supporter of those efforts – with our voices more important than ever, can I count on your support?

It’s been just three weeks since Election Day, but already we can see some of the battles ahead, and I’m honored to standing together for those fights. Let’s get to work.

Leslie
