Dear Lucas,
This has been a tough and very painful week for many of us.
The election results on Tuesday still shock me. They are a heavy blow to everyone who had a different vision for our country, including those who invested their time and energy in the Hillary campaign, as Zoe and I did when we took the boys door-knocking in Philadelphia this past weekend. It’s a tough pill to swallow.
Over the coming days and weeks, it’s clear that we must reflect on what went wrong, and how we can best fight for the values of tolerance and decency and a diverse and pluralistic society.
For now, we need to lean on and support each other. We are, after all, stronger together.
Given that, I’ve decided that I want to use my event on Tuesday as an opportunity to gather some good company in difficult times. Please join us – whether or not you feel this is a moment to make a political donation. I do think that rebuilding at the local level is exactly what we need to do, but that can be a discussion for another day.
And just keep in mind that space is limited, so please let me know if you can make it.
