HOT CHOCOLATE WILL BE SERVED

I found this post-Election Day announcement issued by the administration of FIT -- The Fashion Institute of Technology -- to be extremely unusual; if not downright bizarre. Suddenly, election results are treated akin to disasters? Last time I checked, no one died ....

Dear FIT Students,

Many members of the FIT community are seeking support in light of yesterday's election results, and wrestling with a wide range of difficult emotions. While we recognize that each person Is reacting to this event in their own way, we would like to offer the opportunity for us to come together In solidarity and support.

In order to provide a community gathering opportunity, we are holding a reflection event tomorrow at 1:00pm In the Dubinsky Dining Hall. Join us for art making, journal writing, stress reduction, and/or small group listening table. Hot Chocolate will be served.

If you prefer to seek support on a more Individual level, please know that FIT’s Counseling Center remains a resource for students In need. Do not hesitate to reach out to them in the Dubinsky Student Center, Room A2128 or by calling 212.217.4260. For services and support outside of FIT, please contact 1-800-LIFENET for information and resources.

Being part of the FIT and New York City communities can offer us great solace in times of difficulty, and we are fortunate to have one another to find comfort and join together. We hope to see you tomorrow.

This Community Reflection Forum has been organized by the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Success in partnership with the FIT Student Government Association.

Best Wishes,
