MORE FOR WOMEN

Lucas,

In 2014, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 79 percent of what men were paid, an alarming gap of 21 percent. The gap has narrowed since the 1970s, due largely to women’s progress in education and workforce participation, but progress has stalled, and the pay gap won't go away on its own.

That's why we have to stand up and fight back. Stand with me and demand that women receive equal pay for equal work >>

We recently celebrated the anniversary of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which amended the Fair Pay Act of 1964, but we still have so much work to do.

The realities are even worse for women of color. African American women earned just 63 percent of what white men were paid in 2014, and Hispanic and Latina women were paid only 54 percent of what white men were paid in 2014.

Here in Florida, women are earning only 85 percent of what men earn, and that's unacceptable.

We need to stand together and demand equal pay for equal work! We need to keep fighting to close the pay gap!

Let's move towards progress together,
Val Demings
