I'm keepin' the Faith, baby!
As the only Faith Leader in the race, I continue to be amazed at the number of faith leaders who are supporting me. More than 60 are posted on my website, over 100 have pledged support, and this past week more than 50 local Faith Leaders attended a Faith Leaders fundraising brunch with me - 2/3's of those in attendance were women. Today, International Women's Day, I salute the women who lead faith-based institutions throughout the 13th Congressional District!
As one who comes from a working family and who led working families in 3 congregations, I #pledgeforparity and will continue to fight for women's rights and gender equality. I understand the importance of caring for loved ones without worrying about being fired from work, having time off to heal when sick and outright human dignity.
Our faith-based institutions care and often pick up where the government does not yet provide - they often house day care, after school homework help and universal pre-K. I want to help government do more for women - I will continue the fight for Paid Family & Sick Leave, fight to raise the minimum wage and demand equal pay for equal work.
And celebrate with me all the women-led faith-based institutions in the District:
If you know of any other faith-based institutions or programs headed by women in the District, please insert them here!
Happy International Women's Day & Women's History Month. Let's make History again -- together.
