Lucas -- In the Navy, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution
of the United States. I gave my word of honor, just as members of Congress
do when they take office, to bear true faith and allegiance to this sacred
document that forms the foundation of our country. This is a powerful
oath. In no way, shape or form does it allow exceptions for partisan political reasons.
But that's exactly what is happening in Congress today.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Senate Republicans have
already vowed to block the consideration of any Supreme Court nominee
until next year. This flies directly in the face of their oath and their Constitutional
duty to ensure Justice Scalia’s vacancy on the Supreme Court is filled.
That's why I'm joining Democrats across the country to tell Mitch
McConnell and Senate Republican to stop playing politics and fulfill their
constitutional dusty. Will you join me?
Click here to add your name and demand Senate Republicans stop playing
politics with the Supreme Court!
As always, my opponent Tom Reed continues to follow his party masters
and refuses to speak out against his Republican colleagues in the Senate
who believe partisanship is more important than the Constitution.
Families in Western New York, the Southern Tier, and the Finger Lakes
region are sick of Tom Reed putting politics before anything else. The
23rd district deserves a leader and representative who knows that taking
an oath is more important than politics.
If you agree, then join me today and call on Mitch McConnell and Senate
Republicans and demand they end their partisan games and fulfill their duties.
Thank you for your continued support,
John
