NAHJ NYC Chapter, Brave New Films and Hedge Clippers present the short
documentary premiere, "Preying on Puerto Rico: Forgotten Citizens
of HedgeFund Island" by Brave NewFilms.
The viewing will be followed by a short discussion moderated by iconic
NY Hall of Fame journalist,
NY Daily News columnist, and NAHJ founding member,Juan Gonzalez about media coverage and what can be done moving forward.
Details about the film: Brave New Films is releasing a series of short videos that highlight how US hedge funds, like Aurelius, BlueMountain, and Paulson & Co, stand to make $15 billion off of the Puerto Rican debt crisis while the people of Puerto Rico are closing schools and hospital wings - and where the average college student can't even afford three meals a day.
Despite these conditions on the island, hedge fund managers like Brodsky, Feldstein, and Paulson are demanding that they get paid their share first - which has led to a humanitarian crisis on the island.
