Macy's and Mayor de Blasio Announce that the 40th Anniversary Macy's 4th of July Fireworks - The Nation's Largest Independence Day Display - Will Celebrate America's Birthday Live from New York City Once Again this Year From Two Locations

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Macy’s announced that on Monday, July 4th, the nation’s largest Independence Day pyrotechnic display – the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® - will once again rumble to life over New York City, igniting the skyline over the East River and marking its 40th anniversary as an annual tradition. The show, which begins at approximately 9:25 PM, will be fired from two locations along the shorelines of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, giving more than three million spectators front row views to the explosive action in the night sky.

Set to commemorate the nation’s 240th birthday with an unparalleled spectacle of color, light and sound, the 40th Anniversary Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will feature more than 52,000 shells and effects during a 25-minute tightly choreographed spectacle. Designed and executed by Macy’s, the show will be centered in midtown on four barges positioned between 23rd and 37th Streets and from one double-barge positioned below the Brooklyn Bridge in the Seaport district.

“With the fireworks lighting up the East River for the third year in a row, millions of New Yorkers will again be able to take part in Macy’s electrifying July 4th display,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “The fireworks will ignite the sky – and the local economy – from Queens to Brooklyn to Manhattan, as we celebrate the nation’s 240th birthday.”

“As the nation’s premiere Independence Day pyrotechnic display, the 40th anniversary of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks promises to be one for the record books,” said Amy Kule, Executive Producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. “From three boroughs along the East River in New York City and in homes across the nation, millions of spectators and television viewers will be dazzled by the incredible high-flying effects, colors and shapes igniting the night – all choreographed to a soaring and patriotic score performed by the United States Air Force Band and the one-and-only Jennifer Holliday.”

“The rockets’ red glare – among their many other terrific tints – will thankfully spend another Independence Day illuminating Brooklyn’s coastline along the East River, right where they belong. I encourage spectators from far and near to see this year’s patriotic pyrotechnics in our borough, which celebrates the Fourth of July like no place else in America can,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

“Each year Macy’s presents an amazing 4th of July fireworks show that is an incredible visual spectacle as well as a stirring celebration of our nation’s independence,” said Queens Borough President Melinda Katz. “Queens is thrilled that this year’s largest Independence Day fireworks display in the nation will once again take place on the East River, maximizing visibility for all New Yorkers.”
