Lucas, Oklahoma was poised to set a dangerous precedent in anti-choice
legislation, but we
defeated it!
Oklahoma Senate bill 1552 would have made it a
felony for doctors to perform abortions for their patients, and would have threatened
their medical licenses. This is the most extreme anti-choice attack we've
seen in a long time.
Daily Kos members sent thousands of letters and hundreds of calls to Oklahoma
Governor Mary Fallin's office.
Governor Fallin is one of the most vocal anti-abortion voices in the country,
but after hearing from our community--and others working to protect abortion
rights--she
vetoed the bill!

This battle may not be over yet. The Oklahoma Senate is still
considering an attempt to override Governor Fallin's veto. If they move forward
