Recenty, President Obama took significant steps toward reducing gun violence, announcing new executive actions to implement common-sense gun safety measures.
I applaud President Obama’s leadership on this issue. While Congress has failed again and again to do anything to address the gun violence epidemic in this country, the President acted within his authority to help close loopholes that allow guns to end up in dangerous hands.
These executive actions are steps in the right direction, but it’s still up to Congress to go further and make permanent gun safety reforms. I continue to believe that common sense will prevail in this debate, and I'll keep fighting for legislative solutions that will help prevent gun violence and save lives.
