Dear Lucas,
"A strong woman stands up for herself. A stronger woman stands up for others.” This statement truly exemplifies Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook, aka “Sujay.”
When I met Sujay back in 2013, she and I were “line sisters” as we became honorary members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. I was immediately impressed with her sterling achievements and commendable track record of championing important issues such as equality and social justice.
Today I’m proud to say my strong, progressive soror (sorority sister) is continuing along the path of achievement by running to represent the people of New York’s 13th Congressional District.
Now more than ever, Congress needs someone like Sujay fighting in the trenches for these issues and many more. Just as Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got To Do With It” was truly a perfect, dream role for me, I know becoming a member of Congress will be the perfect role for my soror Sujay. She will thrive as she works hard to bring YOUR voice to the US Congress!
I’m doing my part to bring Sujay to victory, but I need your help to ensure she’s given the opportunity to fight for our shared values and beliefs.
Warmly,
Angela Bassett
