WOMEN GET THINGS DONE

Lucas,

After a Stanford swimmer was sentenced to a mere six months in prison for rape, I was furious.

I couldn't believe our justice system could allow something so obviously wrong to happen. Neither could our elected women in California, so they started working to find a solution.

California Assemblymembers Cristina Garcia and Susan Eggman immediately introduced a bill to update California's definition of rape so that judges have no excuse to give rapists light sentences.

That's the impact of electing pro-choice Democratic women. And it's why we need to help even more of them win this year.

EMILY's List women get things done. Donate to help elect even more women like Cristina and Susan to local and national office this November.

It isn't just our women in California making a big impact. Last month, Rep. Katherine Clark helped lead a sit-in with Rep. John Lewis to demand a vote in the House on gun violence prevention measures.

She was joined by many of the other House women we've helped elect, and senators like Elizabeth Warren.

Our candidates follow through on their promises and fight for what they believe in. They're leaders on issues that are key for women and families.

We just need more of them in office.

Donate to help elect more pro-choice Democratic women this year:
