I'm an old quarterback. During a football game, it's never hard to feel which team has all the momentum. It's not quite as easy in politics, but it's starting to feel like we have the mo on our side.
We just learned that, thanks to your online contributions, we out-raised our potential opponents last quarter. The Republicans still have a primary, and we have the resource advantage. And through redistricting and our growing campaign, we have the ground game advantage, too.
But, as my dad would often remind me at halftime, we have a long, long way to go.
Donald Trump is about to dominate media coverage through his convention. As unfathomable as it might seem, this is the face of the Republican Party. This is our real opponent. His policies. His offensive positions towards minorities, women, the environment, veterans, all of it.
If we don't do our job by gaining seats in Congress, it's possible that Donald Trump's influence - even if he loses - will be able to get his radical agenda through the U.S. House.
We can't let up.
I promise I'm going to do my part to keep the mo on our side.
