Lucas,
The old
G.I. Joe Saturday morning cartoons always ended with a public service announcement
and the phrase, “Knowing is half the battle.” It’s true,
knowing really is half the battle -- and the nationwide web of climate
change deniers knows it, too.
So, to give themselves an edge in what would otherwise be a losing battle,
the web of deniers is working very hard to discredit what 97% of the world’s
climate scientists already know: climate change is real, and human activities
are making it worse.
With funding from the fossil fuel industry, climate change deniers are
doing everything they can to prevent action that would hurt Big Oil and
Big Coal’s bottom lines. Sign our petition and help us hold these
people accountable.
Why would these groups risk their reputation by espousing lies on behalf
of the fossil fuel industry? Simple -- they’re paid for it. This
isn’t conjecture, and this isn’t a conspiracy theory. We have
the receipts, and you can see them for yourself.
The money flows from fossil fuel companies through supposedly independent
think tanks before it finally arrives in the pockets of so-called experts
on climate change -- even though those experts are usually not actual
scientists.
The “experts” then churn out thousands of bogus reports with
the goal of muddying the waters on climate change and trying to deny that
there is a consensus that climate change is real, man-made, and getting worse.
We need to call these deniers out and expose their web of deceit. Add your
name to mine, and hold climate change deniers accountable.
Thanks,
Al
